Kino Sleep Review: All-Natural Sleep Supplement Pros & Cons

I used to be a legendary sleeper.

Truly… When I was younger, I could sleep any time, anywhere, for any duration of time. If anything woke me up I could go back to sleep effortlessly and enjoy a dreamy, blissful slumber.

Somewhere along the line, all of that changed.

Maybe it’s getting older. Maybe it’s becoming a dad.

But in any case, I’ve turned into a restless sleeper and I’ve been noticing the fatigue, the bags under my eyes, the constant waking during the night.

I decided to give Sleep, the new workout recovery supplement from Kinobody a try, because everything I’ve ever used from Kinobody has been fantastic.

Without any further ado, let’s dive into my Kino Sleep review.

Kino Sleep Backstory: What is Sleep?

Greg O’Gallagher of Kinobody is best known for his workout programs, his six pack abs, and fancy cars.

But as his fitness brand has grown, he’s slowly been dipping his toes in the water with equipment and supplements. And he brings a pretty unique approach to every product that he puts out.

I mentioned that I’ve pretty much used it all, and it’s all worked incredibly well: The Kinobody routines, the Kino dipping belt, and Kino Octane preworkout.

While some accuse Greg of “cash grabbing” with these products, my experience has been the exact opposite. They’re not cheap, but they have all been extremely high quality, well-researched, and impeccably manufactured.

Sleep is no different.

This isn’t just melatonin in a fancy bottle. Greg set out to do something a little bit different… Everything in Sleep is all-natural, organic, and most of the traditional sleep-inducing chemicals are nowhere to be found. Neither are any artificial flavorings or colors.

Yes, this is something a little bit unique.

Kino Sleep Ingredients

If you’re looking for melatonin or ZzzQuil, keep moving.

Kino Sleep is a really unique blend, and the best part is there’s no “proprietary formula.”

Every single ingredient is listed right on the bottle.

Let’s see what’s inside Kino Sleep:

Ashwagandha Root Powder – 300mg

Ashwagandha is a very popular (and not inexpensive) herb that’s used for a ton of things. It’s often known to have a calming, de-stressing effect on the mind and body. 300mg is on the low-end of the recommended dose, but ashwagandha is only one part of the Kino Sleep sleep-induction blend.

Lemon Balm Extract – 400mg

In addition to giving Sleep a wonderful, fragrant aroma, lemon balm extract is used here to reduce anxiety and restlessness. It’s another important member of the sleep induction blend found in Kinobody Sleep. Combined with ashwagandha, this creates a powerful relaxing effect. (But notice there are no chemicals here meant to sedate you.)

L-Glycine – 2000mg

Kino Sleep isn’t just about getting some Zzzs. It’s also about optimizing your recovery from a workout. That’s where the recovery blend kicks in, starting with L-Glycine, an amino acid that promotes a healthy metabolism and immune system. This big dose will help you retain your muscles after a tough workout and help you maximize recovery.

L-Theanine – 300mg

More recovery! L-Theanine is anti-stress agent that helps your brain get into that glorious deep-sleep state we all crave. Deep sleep is integral to your body’s recovery from workouts and for strength gains.

Magnesium – 200mg

Most of us don’t get nearly enough of this common but integral mineral. That’s a shame, because magnesium helps a ton with joint and muscle inflammation.

Rutaecarpine – 100mg

I love the inclusion of Retaecarpine in Kino Sleep — it’s designed to quite literally remove caffeine from your bloodstream. So if you had a late cup of coffee or an energy drink in the afternoon and you’re worried it’ll keep you up, Kino Sleep might be exactly what you need to drift off right on schedule.

Kino Sleep Flavor

Kino Sleep is zero calories… that means no sugar. It’s also completely natural and organic, meaning no artificial sweeteners.

Just be aware of that going in. It’s not meant to blow you away with taste… it’s meant to get your ass to sleep.

But! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I gotta be honest… Kino Sleep looks disgusting. The mixture is kind of a cloudy yellowish brown. Not appetizing at all.

The smell, however, is wonderful (I mix mine in hot water). There’s a warm and inviting lemon flavor with just a hint of something purply… jasmine, maybe?

The flavor will shock you in comparison to the drink’s visual appeal. It tastes like a very pleasant, lemony, herbal tea. It’s not sticky sweet, it’s not something you’ll guzzle for fun, but it’s enjoyable to drink. Not at all what you expect by its appearance.

Color me impressed at what Greg and the Kinobody team were able to do here with no sweetening agents.

Kino Sleep Effectiveness & My Review

I followed the instructions on the container exactly, and mixed one level scoop of Kino Sleep in about 8 ounces of hot water. I stirred thoroughly (the mixture was a tad clumpy at first and needed a good amount of mixing).

I then just enjoyed the warm smell coming off of the cup for a few minutes before diving in.

I began drinking Kino Sleep about 30-45 minutes before I wanted to fall asleep.

The effect was subtle but noticeable. I can’t stress enough, this is not Benadryl or ZzzQuil. It’s not a sedative meant to knock you on your ass.

But while you drink Sleep you will notice a slow sense of calm and heaviness wash over you. It’s really quite pleasant and relaxing, and goes absolutely perfectly with a little late night reading.

When I was ready to hit the pillow, I fell asleep quickly. I definitely tossed and turned less than I have been in recent weeks, though I did wake up once to use the bathroom (hey, just giving a full report!)

I fell back to sleep quickly.

Probably the best and most noticeable benefit of Kinobody Sleep was that I woke up feeling great. I was alert and not groggy at all, which is a change of pace for me. I haven’t felt that energetic in the morning in quite a while.

Overall, drinking Kino Sleep was a great experience and one I plan on continuing, especially after tough workouts or on days where I’ve had too much caffeine.

The Verdict

Count me as a fan of Kino Sleep.

It’s given me some of the best sleep I’ve had in years, and we’ll see how/if that translates to the gym, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

Kino Sleep doesn’t come cheap, and it’s not much to look at, but if you’re having sleep issues or recovery problems after working out, I’d highly recommend giving it a try.
