The best way to get crisp, visible abs is:
- Full-body strength training
- Losing body fat through proper nutrition
However, a little extra work on your core can really help your midsection pop and develop better definition.
Plus, targeted core work has tons of health and athletic benefits.

The best full Beachbody programs with an emphasis on core
Your best bet if you want a stronger core is to follow a full body program that gives your abs a lot of work.
Blasting your midsection over and over won’t get you visible abs any faster, and if you do that you’ll wind up neglecting your cardio, conditioning, and overall strength.
Here are some awesome and popular program on BOD you can follow that include plenty of core work:
80 Day Obsession
80 Day Obsession from trainer Autumn Calabrese is a big commitment, and a great place to start if you want to totally overhaul your fitness.
This program puts you through 30-60 minute workouts every day for 80 days, hitting your cardio, strength, flexibility, and more.
80 Day Obsession also has a TON of emphasis on abs, core, and booty — if that’s your thing.
You’ll rarely have more than 1 or 2 days off from blasting your core, and you’ll be challenged with hybrid workouts like:
- Cardio core
- Full body core
- AAA (Arms, Abs, and Ass)
- And more
This is a really well-programmed, well-rounded workout program that gives your abs plenty of action along the way.
RevABS
Hey — here’s one with abs right in the name!
RevABS is a good choice if you really want to zero in on your core strength.
This program last about two weeks (15 days) and the workouts are anywhere from 25-45 minutes long with a heavy emphasis on abs.
Along the way, though, you’ll get bits of cardio and full body strength training — but these classes come back to your core over and over.
Two weeks is a good amount of time to focus heavily on your midsection… after that I would move onto more of a full body program or a specific type of training (strength, yoga, etc.).
RevABS is an older BOD program and the production value is a little out of date, but the workouts themselves are timeless!
P90X
If you thought 80 Day Obsession was a big commitment, wait until you try the 90-day P90X program!
This is one of the most famous and popular home workouts of all time, and for good reason.
You get a little bit of everything inside P90X, from bodyweight strength training, to intense cardio, and even yoga.
P90X will also torch your abs, and includes one of the most brutal ab workouts you’ll ever try (see below!).
This might be a little extreme if you’re a total beginner — if you’re just starting out, I would try 80 Day Obsession first.
But P90X can totally transform your physique and fitness if you follow it to the T — including helping give you a razor sharp midsection.
Hip Hop Abs
Find traditional home workouts boring?
Dance-based workouts may be up your alley — if nothing else, you’re bound to have more fun doing them!
Hip Hop Abs is the perfect Beachbody workout program for anyone who wants to sharpen their abs but hates traditional sit ups and crunches.
This program walks you through 20 workouts of about 24-45 minutes each, all set to head-nodding hip hop beats.
You’ll learn dance moves and perform a few traditional maneuvers to the beat of the music — plus you’ll learn some really unusual and unique core-blasting moves that might take a few tries to master.
When it comes to intensity, Hip Hop Abs doesn’t stand up to P90X — but it’s a good starter workout program for anyone who has trouble sticking with a program.
The best one-off Beachbody ab workouts
Looking for just one single ab workout to get your midsection screaming right now?
If you’re a Beachbody on Demand member, here are the best workouts you can try:
Ab Ripper X (from P90x)
Try this excruciating challenge and see if you can complete 300 straight reps of some of the most challenging core exercises imaginable with zero rest.
You have 15 minutes — good luck!
10 Minute Fix for Abs (from 21 day fix)
Love crunches? You won’t after this sneaky and brutal workout.
In 10 Minute Fix for Abs, you’ll do 11 different crunch variations for about 20 reps a piece — and then repeat the whole circuit again!
If you can take the heat, you’ll perform around 400 total reps with almost no rest in about 10 minutes.
Special Ops Core (from 22 Minute Hard Corps)
22 minutes is pretty long for a core-only workout, which is what makes this bonus addition to 22MHC such a tough ab workout.
It consists of 10 brutal moves over the course of 20 plus minutes — if you can complete this, you’ve got killer ab strength.
Core Inferno (from Morning Meltdown 100)
MM100 is a favorite for more advanced Beachbody members — it challenges you to complete 100 extremely intense morning workouts in a row.
Core Inferno is one of the hardest in the program. Get ready for 20 minutes of brutal core and glute action that’s sure to leave you sore.
Wrapping Up
You don’t need a fancy or expensive gym membership to blast your abs into oblivion.
You can get great results at home with basically no equipment — just a Beachbody on Demand subscription.

I still think your best bet is following a full body strength or conditioning program and supplementing an extra ab workout here or there.
